WWE: 6 Reasons Why Ratings No Longer Matter

Despite what the ratings tell you, WWE is performing strongly. Maybe even more so than the glory days of the 80's and Hulkamania...

There seems to be a misconception throughout the internet wrestling community as of late that the popularity of the WWE is at an all time low. Most (mainly smarks) people and dirt sheets use the current ratings for the WWE's flagship program RAW in comparison to the Attitude Era (not to mention the B show Smackdown), as proof of their conclusions as to why the WWE is struggling to be part of the pop culture elite as it stands today. Well, I am sorry to inform you that you could not be further from the truth. The WWE is actually quite possibly at an all time high popularity wise, at least since the aforementioned Attitude era or the heights they achieved in the 80's with Hulk Hogan leading the charge. But the difference nowadays in comparison to those two eras of professional wrestling is that we now live in the digital age and you can no longer judge a television shows popularity on ratings in the United States alone. In fact, when you take into account the reasons I present to you today as to why the ratings for RAW simply do not matter anymore, using not only basic common sense but simple analysis of current WWE profit margins, you will come to realize that not only is the WWE in no danger of losing its current stranglehold on the industry, but they are in fact world leaders in comparison to many other actual sporting franchises and an essential part of modern day pop culture. Maybe even more so than the glory days of the 80's and Hulkamania...

Passions in life: Movies, Music and Wrestling....My childhood was spent growing up in the "Outback" of Australia (I'm a little bit country) and my adulthood resided within the city limits (I'm a little bit rock and roll), so you could say that I am the best (or worst) of both worlds. A 6 foot 7 ex wannabe pro wrestler (whose career was cut short due to a busted back, NOT caused by wrestling) & muso who has a precocious cat & a habit of doing the wrong thing but for the right reasons. The story of my life???? All demos, no albums ;)
