WWE: 7 Recent Gimmicks That Did Not Live Up To The Hype

The hardest thing for any wrestler in today's wrestling world is to win over the fans. If the fans reject you, it doesn't matter how many years of experience you have in the ring or how great you are as a talker because if you get no reaction you're going to get lost in the midcard or even released. There are so many wrestlers in the business today that have the same sort of look with the short hair, the black tights, the black boots and really don't offer too much in terms of personalities. All the heels think they're better than everybody else. All the faces just smile all the time. Fans today are smarter than ever before. For a silly gimmick to work, it's up to the booking and the performer to get noticed. What about the characters that are over the top and different? There aren't too many of those in the 2010's era of WWE. This "reality era" that Triple H called it on Monday isn't full of plumbers or garbage men or hockey goons. It's more about putting out guys and girls that have basic gimmicks with some tweaks here or there. There have been some over the top characters with ridiculous gimmicks in the last three or four years that haven't really taken off like WWE hoped they would. Here's a look at those characters that just didn't work and why the booking of them could have been a lot better too.
