WWE: 7 Most Religious Gimmicks In History

Religion and pro wrestling really don't mix well. A big reason for that any time religion is brought up, it can rub people the wrong way. One person's beliefs may conflict with another and a lot of times in the real world it can lead to problems. You would think that in the history of wrestling that there would be a lot of religious characters because it's a business full of different types of personalities, but there really haven't been a lot of them that made it to the big stage in WWE. Vince McMahon has shown over the years that he doesn't really care about putting offensive characters out there. However, when it comes to the religious gimmicks, he has been able to show some restraint. It's hard to define some religious characters too. Does Hulk Hogan count since he would always tell us to "say your prayers" or was that just a phrase he liked to use? There was also the time when Andre the Giant ripped a necklace off Hogan that had a cross on it. That could be construed as religious, but WWE never really pushed that part of Hogan so for something like this he's going to be left off. Seeing as how it is Easter this weekend, here's a look at some religious gimmicks in the history of WWE. As you will see, most of them were not characters that didn't last too long.
