WWE: 8 Wrestlers Whose Gimmicks Were Totally Ripped Off From Movies

7. Hollywood Obsessed Goldust Looks Like A Big Oscar

Goldust Again, this is probably stretching the theme a little bit. Dustin Runnels' most famous gimmick rips off no specific movie, but instead rips off ALL the movies!!! His outfit even resembles that of a big Academy Award, how much more obvious do you want it to be??? The Goldust character first emerged in 1995 in the then WWF as a sexually ambiguous heel obsessed with movies. Though the filmophile (its a real word!) aspect of his personality garnered slightly less attention than his bisexual, overly amorous characteristics, the Hollywood influence was still obvious by his entrance, complete with altered aspect ratio and production company. As time went by, the character Marlena was added as a valet, who sat in directors chairs at ringside and smoked cigars, or directed his promos with clapperboard in hand, calling "Action!". Goldust began starting his promos with film quotes, and imitating celebrities and other wrestlers, most famously Prince by calling himself The Artist Formerly Known As Goldust in homage to the Purple One's famous name change. He also had a brief sado-masochistic relationship with Luna Vachon, but the less said about that, the better. These days, The Bizarre One's penchant for all things Hollywood is barely mentioned. He mostly operates as a tag team with real life brother Cody, with the Goldust outfit just easier for the audience to recognise than his real name and face. He has started altering his facepaint to look more Darth Maul-ish, though, so he hasn't completely forgotten his strange, strange roots.
