WWE: 9 Most Conceivable Threats To The Undertaker's Wrestlemania Streak

9. The WWE Championship

Not a contender as such, but putting the championship against the streak has many merits. The "Title vs Streak" match would be perceived as conceivable to fans that The Deadman may lose €“ would he really win the title at this stage in his career? How could the champion lose to a part timer? It's an easy sell. By increasing the stakes, the WWE would also be giving themselves a prestigious match up. The old adage of "irresistible force meets the immovable object" comes to mind when thinking about the current Unified Championship coming up against the 21 match streak. It\s a classic booking technique for wrestling promoters to add lure to a predictable match outcome. By giving both opponents a set of stakes, things to win and lose, WWE has a compelling story to tell. The company has done this before with The Undertaker, notably against Edge's World Title at Wrestlemania 24. As fans grow cold to the idea that Undertaker will ever lose, perhaps WWE could reinvigorate some doubt by putting a strong championship reign on the line against the fabled streak. It's worth noting as well that "the streak" itself is in fact a title €“ a golden treasure that challengers are trying to get their hands on. As is the tradition in the wrestling business, everything has purpose, and all reigns are built for ultimately elevating a contender. Has the streak evolved past this point? Or can it be made to be vulnerable by the booking department? That's surely their biggest challenge come Mania season.
