WWE Announce 50-Man 'Greatest Royal Rumble' In Saudi Arabia
Show set for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in April.
In a press release earlier today, WWE - in conjunction with the Saudi General Sports Authority - announced they are set to stage a mammoth 50-man Royal Rumble at King Abdullah Sports City on 27 April. The event, christened the 'Greatest Royal Rumble', will eclipse 2011's 40-man effort in terms of participants, with superstars such as John Cena, Roman Reigns, Triple H, AJ Styles, and Shinsuke Nakamura all slated to feature on the show in Jeddah.
The show is part of a 10-year strategic multiplatform partnership in support of Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia's social and economic reform program. As Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter this past week, Vince McMahon and Paul 'Triple H' Levesque recently cut a deal with Turki al-Sheikh - Chairman of the Saudi General Sports Authority - to bring regular shows to the Middle Eastern kingdom.
Speaking about the event, McMahon noted, "Our partnership with the Saudi General Sports Authority reflects a long-term commitment to present WWE's world-class entertainment to a global audience on a grander scale than ever before."
The financial details of the arrangement have not been made known as this time.
