NXT honcho Triple H took to Twitter earlier this afternoon to announce that the yellow and black brand will be returning to Chicago come 16 June.

The Network special is slated for Rosemont's Allstate Arena, coinciding with WWE's Money in the Bank pay-per-view scheduled to take place the following evening. It'll be the second time the developmental crew have been hosted in the Windy City (or at least, a few miles north-west of it), after they came to town for NXT TakeOver: Chicago on 20 May last year. That was the show which culminated in the nefarious Tommaso Ciampa turning rouge on partner Johnny Gargano, as well as featuring the sensational Pete Dunne vs. Tyler Bate epic for the increasingly dusty UK Championship.

TakeOver events are traditionally held in tandem with so-called 'Big Four' WWE PPVS; the fact it is being promoted alongside Money in the Bank suggests the promotion has plans to make that show - the de facto fifth biggest of the calendar - even bigger than usual. Which probably means longer. Superb.

Tickets for NXT TakeOver: Chicago go on sale 14 April.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, despairing over Middlesbrough FC, and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
