Triple H and Batista's impending WrestleMania 35 clash of the titans is set to escalate on next week's episode of Monday Night Raw, with the pair scheduled for what's sure to be a cordial tête-à-tête.

WWE announced last night that the ex-Evolution pals will meet in ring in Pittsburgh next Monday, after a livid Triple H delivered an impassioned rant in response to Batista laying out Ric Flair during his 70th birthday celebrations.

Big Dave wasn't in Philadelphia last night, but sent a riposte to The Game via an Instagram video. He claimed he'd have happily been there to confront Hunter, but for the fact he can't stand the city. Boo, hiss, etc.

Batista concluded that he'd meet Triple H's challenge next week if he can get over his distaste for host city Pittsburgh. Apparently he reached a conclusion pretty quickly, as WWE subsequently confirmed the meeting via an on-screen graphic.

Assuming the WrestleMania match does come to fruition - and save for extenuating circumstances, it will - it'll be the Guardians of the Galaxy star's first match with the company in five years. He left WWE for the second time in 2014 following dissatisfaction with a creative direction which had seen him booed out the building on his big babyface return.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
