WWE Announces New Commentary Teams For New Era

The end of the road has arrived for The King.

That was all rather underwhelming wasn't it? After months of build and hype the WWE Draft could only really fail to match expectations, but the splitting of World Wrestling Entertainment into two rosters felt less like a grand Christmas and more like shared birthday party. It was okay, it was fine, it was there.

It wasn't just the in-ring performers that found themselves shifted around however, and WWE has gone ahead and announced brand new commentary teams for both RAW and SmackDown.

Michael Cole will continue to lead the RAW team, where he will be joined by Byron Saxton and NXT call-up Corey Graves. It's all change over on SmackDown too, where Mauro Ranallo will be joined by John 'Bradshaw' Layfield and David Otunga.

The big news here is the absence of Jerry 'The King' Lawler from either team. Lawler's role in the company has faded somewhat over the last couple of years, and it would seem that he has no on-air role to play in WWE's new era.

WWE also announced the commentary teams for Superstars and Main Event. Tom Phillips will helm both shows, with Graves joining him for Superstars and Otunga sitting alongside him on Main Event.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
