WWE Battleground 2013 Blu-Ray Review

DVD And Blu Ray Extras

The extras on offer are very satisfactory. As well as a range of interviews, the DVD boasts an excellent match in Cody Rhodes, Daniel Bryan, and Goldust vs Reigns, Ambrose and Rollins. The six man encounter from the 7th of October Raw features some great action. Bryan in particular excels, he executes a sickening suplex on Rollins and the pair wrestle superb exchanges of action. The conclusion of the match also features the memorable angle in which Big Show returns and KO's Triple H. As well as that excellent match, you also get the Battleground kick off match - Dolph Ziggler vs Damien Sandow. This is a decent match, and remarkable for being the first ever encounter between the pair according to Michael Cole. The Blu Ray extras include all of the DVD content and more. CM Punk's promo from the 23rd of September Chicago Raw is in here. It is Punk at his best, in his hometown, in a great mic segment with Paul Heyman. The segment also features a sickening bump off the stage administered to Punk by Ryback. Another bonus Blu Ray content is Dolph Ziggler vs Alberto Del Rio from the October 4th Smackdown. This is a fast paced and hard hitting match, with entertaining commentary from Damien Sandow. All in all, the extra features add a lot of value to this purchase.

Ultimately, the main event of this DVD makes it hard to feel satisfied with Battleground. With that being said, the undercard was decent, the Rhodes match was one of the best bouts of 2013, and the DVD / Blu Ray extras are entertaining. If you decide to pick Battleground up on DVD and Blu Ray you will be adding one of the most controversial events of 2013 to your collection. It wasn't a great show, but WWE have done a decent job with extras in adding some value to a purchase. Buy it for the Rhodes v Shield match, avoid it if you're still sore about the Orton/Bryan feud.
