WWE have a big decision to make. Either Battleground is a pay-per-view rife with shocks, or it just sails past almost without incident, just another event on the annual calendar. Should those in charge choose the latter, nobody will leave surprised, but there will be those expecting to see some twists and turns along the way.

Battleground is a night of grudges, but it also falls at an intriguing time. The WWE Draft has just split the main roster (almost) right down the middle. In the WWE Title match alone, two men are poised to appear exclusively on Raw and the reigning champion going in will make his home on SmackDown.

People are perhaps expecting a run-of-the-mill show, but that doesn't mean there aren't surprises in store that could rock the boat. Scanning the card, there are loads of little shocks waiting that could help stir more interest in the event.

From title changes and surprise debuts, to unthinkable sportsmanship and post-match attacks, there's a lot WWE can squeeze into Battleground.

Let's take a look at what may leave everyone incredulous...

10. The New Day Overcome Their Fears

The writing in the storyline involving The New Day and The Wyatt Family has been fairly inconsistent. At times, Xavier Woods (in particular) has been fearful, warning Big E and Kofi Kingston that Bray and his clan pose the biggest threat they have faced yet.

Then, all of a sudden New Day are laughing and dancing as though they don't have a care in the world.

Everything seems to be gearing towards a Wyatt win at Battleground. For a start, the WWE Tag-Team Titles aren't on the line. Secondly, Bray can exploit Xavier's fear to gain the upper hand. As likely as it looks though, a Wyatt Family win isn't guaranteed.

It'd be disappointing to see Bray undermined by the creative team again, but there's a chance that The New Day could be booked to shock their larger opponents and pick up the win.

The story doesn't seem to be heading that way, which is why this would have to be considered a minor surprise. At the very least, WWE need to keep the thread of fear consistent.
