The Highlight Reel really needed more...

Battleground has come and gone, and WWE now focus their attention on SummerSlam. The annual pay-per-view tradition each Summer, that event will house the culmination of some big feuds in the company. It'll also be the very first supershow to fall post-WWE Draft, so it'll be interesting to see how management juggle the roster (not to mention the announcers and other nuances).

These are intriguing times in WWE, there's hope that the brand split will allow those previously left out in the cold to gain more television time. Even if that doesn't happen in the short term, at least SummerSlam promises to be a bumper card.

So what was learned at Battleground? That's the burning question, and the answer is a loaded one. Before the show, WWE promised a Triple Threat for the WWE Title between former members of The Shield. In addition, Randy Orton would appear for the first time in nine months, stepping foot onto Chris Jericho's Highlight Reel segment.

Let's look in-depth at Battleground to see what could be gleaned from the event as a whole...

10. There's Hope Yet For Breezango

There's no doubt about it, Tyler Breeze and Fandango were only placed together in a tag-team because the writing squad had nothing for them as individuals. Sometimes, that can be a kiss of death, a real indication of where performers are on the totem pole of importance. For Breezango, it could just be a blessing in disguise.

As singles stars, they were going nowhere. In actual fact, at one point it looked like Breeze (who only made his main roster debut late last year) would be shoved back down the ladder towards NXT. That could have spelled the end of his Raw or SmackDown dreams.

At Battleground, Breezango defeated The Usos in a tight, tidy match. Along the way, they actually looked like a unit, not just two guys shunted together due to a lack of creative inspiration. This win represents hope, hope that Breeze and Fandango could find a place for their act on SmackDown going forward.

Fans reacted well to the team, so who knows what they could achieve if WWE manage to resist the usual yo-yo booking.
