In case you missed the news (you can find our full coverage of the story here), WWE have announced a seismic change for SmackDown. The show will move to a live broadcast on Tuesdays, and the Brand Split looks to be back with a vengeance.

According to an official announcement on WWE.com, 'both Raw and SmackDown will each feature their own unique rosters and rivalries following an imminent Superstar draft'.

This is exciting news for anybody tired of the promotion's rigid structure in recent years - but how successful will it actually prove?

Here are the eight biggest implications suggested by this news, changes which hopefully see WWE continue to improve as it moves further into its self-proclaimed 'New Era'.

8. More Exposure For Lowercard Superstars

Of course, the most obvious implication of a new brand split is the fact that lowercard superstars will now be given a greater spotlight in which to shine.

The current structure deprives many talented wrestlers of an adequate platform from which to showcase their skills - be it on the microphone or inside the ring.

Now with WWE's main roster stretched deliberately thin, midcarders will automatically move into a position of greater prominence on the card, hopefully leading to the generation of more crowd favourites.
