WWE: Bret Hart, WCW And What Could Have Been

Hart Bret Survivor Series 1997 was a momentous occasion. It had two of the hottest wrestlers on the planet going hammer and tongs in a match that would re-shape the world of professional wrestling forever. On the WWE side, the character of Mr McMahon was born creating a duplicitous heel that the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin, the Rock, the Undertaker, Triple H, Shawn Michaels and even John Cena could feud with over the years and ushering in the Attitude Era. WCW, on the other hand acquired Bret Hart- the biggest babyface, arguably best in ring worker and one of the hottest properties in professional wrestling at the time and um...wasted him. Part four of this series of articles then (Part one, two and three can be seen here) will examine the reasons why the marriage of Bret Hart with WCW should have worked. It will then examine what stopped WCW from using Hart better before as always looking back at what could have been done differently.
