WWE Business Numbers Show Popularity Of John Cena Vs Kevin Owens

The numbers were hot for Owens and Cena headlining.

WWE business numbers have illustrated the popularity of John Cena and Kevin Owens main eventing shows. The house show numbers for July were the strongest performing for any match over a full month in a long time. The Owens Cena main event matches drew an average of 6,583 paid, which is up from the 6,000 Cena was drawing against Bray Wyatt in the same spot in 2014. What this shows, is that Kevin Owens can draw. Granted Cena is a huge part of the attraction, but the addition of Owens has resulted in more numbers. When Wyatt was in the spot, it was a lot less. "Other guys in the same position with Cena haven€™t done as well," Dave Meltzer writes in the wrestling observer newsletter. Owens was put in the position and got over, helped by an initial strong push in which he defeated Cena. However, following the feud, Owens' stock dropped dramatically. The rumour is that Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn believe he has a bad look, they believe he is fat. That makes them think that he can't draw or get over, despite their own business numbers proving that he can. The simple fact is this, Kevin Owens increased WWE business. The Owens Cena feud was one of the hottest WWE narratives of the year. Rather than relegating Owens, WWE should have stayed hot on him and pushed him into something equally big. It will be interesting to see what they do with him for the rest of the year.
