WWE Champion Brock Lesnar Vs. John Cena At Royal Rumble 2015

The WWE Title match at the Royal Rumble is now official.

The WWE World Heavyweight Championship match is set for January 25 at the Royal Rumble in Philadelphia as Brock Lesnar defends the WWE Title against number one contender John Cena. If that match sounds familiar it's because it is. They faced off at SummerSlam in August when Lesnar decimated Cena to become the WWE Champion and then one month later at Night of Champions, Cena won by disqualification after the interference of Seth Rollins. Even though Cena didn't lose the rematch, he had to beat Randy Orton at Hell in a Cell to become the number one contender. That's exactly what happened. After Cena beat Seth Rollins at TLC last night, he kept his number one contender status and he still gets his title shot at the Royal Rumble. It has been three months since we have seen Lesnar on WWE television although he is scheduled for tonight's edition of Raw. It wasn't advertised during the TLC PPV, but it has been leaked online that Lesnar is set to appear at this week's show. Lesnar is also booked for the December 29 edition of Raw in two weeks as well as a few episodes of Raw in January as well. Since Lesnar returned to WWE in 2012 he's faced Cena three times already (Lesnar is 1-2 in those matches) and January 25th will be the fourth time. He's wrestled Triple H three times (Lesnar is 2-1) and then he's also won matches against CM Punk, Big Show and The Undertaker. It would have been nice to see him against some different opponents as well as wrestling more often. When Lesnar faces Cena at the Royal Rumble, it's expected that Lesnar will leave with the WWE Title and then wrestle again at WrestleMania 31 against whoever wins the Royal Rumble match. That man is expected to be Roman Reigns. Plans can always change, of course. We all know that although WWE seems likely to stay the course with Reigns because they want him to be their next major main event performer. On a Reigns related note, he is the first man announced for the Royal Rumble and the favorite to win. Lesnar's WWE deal is set to expire on the day after WrestleMania 31 although he could always re-sign, but he may choose to go back to MMA to work for UFC or Bellator in the future. That will be a big topic of conversation in the new year. The hype for Cena/Lesnar begins tonight on Raw. They have six weeks to build it up, so let's hope that there's something creative planned for them.
