WWE Clash Of Champions 2017: 8 Things WWE Got Right

At times, the Fatal-4-Way match booked for the SmackDown Tag-Team Titles felt like something WCW might put on in 1999. Even the guys involved didn't seem to understand how to build tension or get into a rhythm before the usual rapid-fire 'everyone in' finishing stretch. The whole thing came across as ever-so-slightly awkward.

The US Title Triple Threat was formulaic, but it was the much better match overall. Had the roles been reversed and the Tag Title crew been forced to go out first, they would have struggled to draw fans into their match before the final few moments. Nobody should want a pay-per-view opener to feel lifeless.

Openers set the tone for a show, and Corbin vs. Ziggler vs. Roode did that better than The Usos vs. New Day vs. Aiden English and Rusev vs. Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable. Had this been a straight up tag match, it may have been the better call, but there were just too many moving parts to make it anything more than a disjointed mess.
