WWE Concerned About Daniel Bryan's Health

The current IC Champ is dealing with more neck soreness.

Daniel Bryan's rise to the top of WWE was the highlight of WWE in 2014 when he won the WWE Title in the main event of WrestleMania 30. It doesn't get much better than that. Sadly, Bryan also experienced a lot of sadness in 2014 because he was out of action from May through the end of the year due to a serious injury. Bryan returned to the ring on January 15, 2015 and looked like he hadn't missed a beat. However, there is now some concerning news about his health. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer on his radio show, Bryan has been dealing with issues from the injuries that took him out of action last year. Bryan's apparently in rough shape, which is why WWE has been protecting him in regular tag match and six-man matches as of late and it's also why he hasn't been in a match on Raw the last two weeks. During this week's Raw he only appeared in a backstage segment with Kane that was about one minute long. Bryan's the current Intercontinental Champion that has been wrestling every night on the European tour and it's not like he's the kind of guy to just go through the motions. If he's in pain, he's still fighting through it. Perhaps WWE will change some of the matches remaining on the tour so they can protect him by putting him in tag matches so that he doesn't have to work as much. There were two instances in the last few months where he took hard bumps on his neck off Dragon Suplexes from Luke Harper. Bryan likely knew they were coming and was okay with his friend Harper doing them, but that's the kind of thing that he should avoid because it could put Bryan on the sidelines again. When Bryan returned from injury, there was a lot of concern about how long he'd be able to keep wrestling. Fans want to see him main eventing again, but it's easy to understand why WWE would be apprehensive about it considering his health issues. In the same report by Meltzer, he also noted that in Bryan's brand new autobiography that is coming out soon that there is absolutely no mention of AJ Lee. It's an odd omission since the pair were linked together so much in storylines in 2011-12 when they were on their way to becoming huge stars in the company. They were an on screen couple, they broke up, they got engaged on the show, they had a near wedding on the 1000th episode of Raw in July 2012 and a lot of people think of them as a great act together. Why would they completely leave her out? That's an odd choice. Hopefully Bryan is able to get through this without any surgery. It may be smart for WWE to give him some weekends off from house shows so he can take some breaks once in a while.
