WWE Confirms Cody Rhodes Release - Statements Issued
Rhodes breaks his silence as WWE grants his departure request.
After tweeting that he had formally asked for his release from WWE on Friday, the company made it official on Sunday when news broke just hours before the Extreme Rules pay-per-view that Cody Rhodes was no longer with the promotion.
When Cody's original tweet went out, speculation ran rampant as to the reason, with such theories as an impending pregnancy or a chance at an acting career being tossed around, but according to the statement issued by Cody, it's the same frustrating story we've heard too many time already.

These are the words of yet another talented wrestler chewed up and spit out by the WWE system and his inability to break through the proverbial glass ceiling. Cody obviously has intentions to continue wrestling and will seemingly attempt to ply his trade for a company that will utilize his abilities in a way that he's more comfortable with.
It's hard to say if we'll ever see Rhodes back in a WWE ring, but for now fans will have to remember the matches and memories, thank him for all his hard work and remain hopeful that he fulfills his dream of living up to his father's legacy. For many of us, he already has.
