WWE Debate: Should Superstars Lose Their Jobs Because Of Social Media Posts?

One released, one off the hook...

WWE developmental talent Nhooph Al-Areebi, who wrestles as Jasmin in NXT, is the latest Superstar to become embroiled in a controversy surrounding her social media accounts. On Tuesday night, racial remarks that the 20-year-old allegedly posted on her Twitter account years ago surfaced on Reddit.com. In one of the tweets, dated February 11, 2012, she quoted a tweet reading "Ugh...f--king n--gers...that's why I chose white folk. Hmph" and wrote "word." She would have been around 17-years-of-age at the time. WWE issued the following statement to PWInsider.com about the situation: "WWE conducted a thorough investigation and has determined that Nhooph Al-Areebi€™s (aka Jasmin) Twitter account was used without her knowledge when she was 16 and 17 years old. Jasmin remains apologetic for any offensive remarks that were made." Al-Areebi commented, "Unfortunately, I used poor judgment sharing my Twitter account with someone else. I am truly sorry for any offensive remarks that were posted." This most recent controversy comes just over a week after WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins' girlfriend Zahra Schreiber was fired for posts she made on her Instagram. The company described the posts, which related to swastikas and other nazi paraphernalia, as being "inappropriate and offensive remarks." Does this represent a case of double standards from WWE? Surely if Schreiber paid the price then so should Areebi. Or maybe, you're of the opinion that social media posts from years ago shouldn't be held against WWE Superstars today. Should both women have lost their jobs or should they both still be employed by the company? Let us know in the comments below.
