WWE: Mick Foley Announced As First Inductee For Hall of Fame Class of 2013

Foley-2 Mick Foley has been announced as the first inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2013. After months of rumours suggesting that Foley would be inducted this year, The New York Post made the announcement today. The Hardcore Legend made his WWE (then WWF) debut in 1996 after spells in WCW and ECW. During his WWE tenure, Foley gained worldwide popularity under his three personas of Mankind, Cactus Jack and Dude Love. Foley became WWF Champion for the first time on January 4th 1999, defeating The Rock. His second reign began less than a month later, defeating The Rock once again. His third reign lasted one day, defeating Stone Cold Steve Austin and Triple H in a triple threat match at Survivor Series €™99. He lost the championship to Triple H the following night on Raw is War. Following Foley€™s short reigns as champion, he feuded with Triple H before retiring from active competition. He became Commissioner of WWE in 2000 before leaving the company in late-2001. From 2003, Foley made sporadic appearances for WWE, even coming out of retirement for feuds with Randy Orton, Edge and Ric Flair. He briefly appeared as Smackdown€™s colour commentator in 2008 before his contract with the company expired. Foley debuted in TNA Wrestling shortly after his WWE departure. In 2009, he defeated Sting at Lockdown to become TNA World Champion for the first time. During his three year tenure in TNA, Foley feuded with Abyss, Eric Bischoff and Immortal. He left the company in 2011 before returning to WWE. During Foley€™s 27-year career, he has appeared for numerous promotions winning several championships. He is a former WCW Tag Team Champion (with Kevin Sullivan), ECW Tag Team Champion (with Mikey Whipwreck), WWE Tag Team Champion (with Steve Austin, Chainsaw Charlie, Kane, Al Snow and The Rock). He is also a former WWE Hardcore Champion and during his period with TNA he won the TNA Legends Championship. Foley will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Saturday 6th April 2013.
