WWE Money in the Bank: Whatever Happened To The Winners?

2007, Wrestlemania 23 - CM Punk Vs Mr Kennedy Vs Edge Vs King Booker T Vs Randy Orton Vs Finlay Vs Jeff Hardy Vs Matt Hardy Wrestlemania 23's Money in the Bank was won by Mr Kennedy (now Mr Anderson), who survived the biggest MITB ladder match yet - which also included Randy Orton and CM Punk. Kennedy vowed he'd hang on to the briefcase until the following Wrestlemania but suffered an injury which meant he had to 'drop' it to Edge. This was meant to be Kennedy's big push in the WWE but he never really recovered his ground and eventually left the company, content to be a big fish in a small pond in TNA. 2008, Wrestlemania 24 - CM Punk Vs Shelton Benjamin Vs Chris Jericho Vs Carlito Vs MVP Vs John Morrison Vs Mr Kennedy Did you think this was perhaps WWE's attempt to relaunch Mr Kennedy? You'd be wrong. This was the first big step for Chicago's own CM Punk who would win this and the following years briefcase, successfully cashing it in both times. His first win came at an experimental time in WWE history where no major names held any of the singles titles on RAW. You don't need us to tell you how big a deal Punk is in WWE these days but back then he wasn't considered a man event talent and often had to have help and or luck to get the victory over bigger names. His second reign came after cashing in the briefcase on mega face Jeff Hardy, cementing a successful heel turn that eventually led us to the CM Punk we know and love today. Punk is probably the most successful winner of Money in the Bank, with the exception perhaps of Edge.
