WWE News - Why Dolph Ziggler Isn't Pushed

Ziggler's history with injuries curtailing any potential big push?

When Dolph Ziggler won the World Title one night after WrestleMania 29 he received one of the loudest ovations in WWE history. Fans appreciated him for his hard work and cheered for the biggest moment of his career even though he was a heel at the time. His title reign was short due a concussion he suffered and ever since then he hasn't received much of a push. Fans keep wondering why. A new report from PWInsider notes that his injury history, particularly with concussions is the big reason why he isn't being pushed more. The feeling internally is that WWE can't push Ziggler and trust him as a top guy because he's injury prone and he's had a history of taking time off. This applies to a few other talents as well like Christian, who is currently not being used at all. There's a feeling that some talents are just never going to get a chance because of their history. Ziggler really hasn't been injury prone in terms of having a lot of other injuries, but the concussion history is definitely concerning. Part of it is because of the style he works. He is one of the most athletic guys in the company that will do flip dives before landing a bump or selling a move by doing something really acrobatic as a way to get people's attention. He's nicknamed "The Show Off" for a reason. It's not like he's out there doing basic bumps like everybody else. From WWE's standpoint, it's certainly understandable that they would be concerned about pushing somebody that they consider to be injury prone. If you spend months building somebody up only for them to get hurt right before a big win then that kills all the momentum that person had. A counter to this thinking would be to point out that guys like John Cena and Randy Orton have main evented for the past decade, yet both of them have been injured a number of times and Orton has been suspended twice. Cena's had more injuries than Ziggler too. It's just that it hasn't been a case of concussions. It's a shame that Ziggler isn't being used better. He has the talent. The fans always react to them. He's 34 years old this year, so it would be nice if WWE gave him a chance sooner rather than later although based on his injury history it may never happen.
