WWE News On John Cena Missing Raw And Live Events

The broken nose is the cause of it.

John Cena suffered a broken nose during Raw's main event on Monday and he underwent surgery on Tuesday to repair it. The damage is so bad that he's going to miss WWE live events this week as well as Raw next week, reports PWInsider. Apparently the break was significant and he needed extensive medical work for his nose to be fixed. It is not known how long Cena will be out of action or if he'll be able to compete at SummerSlam against WWE Champion Seth Rollins, who he beat on Monday. The injury occurred during the match when Rollins did a muay thai style knee lift that caught Cena harder than he would have liked and Cena was bleeding after that.

The good news is that SummerSlam is August 23, so Cena would have nearly a full month to see if he can compete again. A report at Wrestlezone notes that he could be out for several weeks. Considering his history of being a fast healer when it come to injuries, it would be foolish to write Cena out of SummerSlam at this stage. Cena's girlfriend Nikki Bella missed Smackdown this week because she was with John when he had his surgery. She'll likely be back for TV next week. It's smart for WWE to keep him off Raw and live events. Let him rest for a week or two, don't take any bumps that could potentially hurt his nose again and bring him back when he's physically able to compete again. He's needed for a big match at SummerSlam, but WWE has to be smart about it too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORz-ZfG3x7Y
