WWE No Longer Allowing Samoa Joe To Work For Ring Of Honor?

After ROH's new TV deal, things may change for Samoa Joe.

Following the news of Ring of Honor getting picked up by Destination America starting in June, there's a lot of speculation that WWE newcomer Samoa Joe may not be allowed to work for Ring of Honor during their June 20 TV tapings. This wasn't an issue when Joe was announced for the event a few days ago, but now that ROH is on cable instead of just weekend syndication it makes sense that WWE would have a problem with it. Throw in the fact that ROH airs on Wednesdays at 8pmET at the same time as WWE NXT, which Joe is also on. Does WWE really want to let Joe appear on two different shows at the same time? It just doesn't seem like WWE is interested in letting that happen. Joe has a lot of options right now. According to the Wrestling Observer, Joe's original plan was to go back to ROH in September although that changed when they announced the June date. WWE only tapes NXT shows once per month, so it's not like they can really force him to say no when they have given him the green light to take other deals. It was also reported that Joe has had talks with New Japan Pro Wresting, which is doing great business now and has several top American wrestlers in prominent roles. All of those other options could change if he signed a full time deal with WWE. As of now, Joe has bookings on some indy shows going into early August, so what we could see is a situation where WWE tries to lock him up with a full time deal, which could mean moving to Raw/Smackdown permanently instead of just NXT, and then WWE would prevent him from working those indy shows. If it takes a full time deal to keep Joe in the mix then WWE should do it. Listen to the crowd reactions he's had at NXT. Look at the positive response on social media and also the fact that his t-shirt sold out on WWEShop.com within a few days. People are excited about seeing him in WWE, so maybe WWE should make him an attractive offer to be a regular on the main roster in addition to NXT if he wants to keep being on there. Would he say yes? Only he knows. We have covered these Joe related stories in the last week and really the only thing we know for sure is that the situation keeps changing. The Ring of Honor news about going to Destination America was considered a surprise and there's no way of really knowing how WWE is going to react to things in terms of how they use Joe on their shows. It really is an exciting time for the entire wresting business and Samoa Joe is at the forefront of it since he's got so many options available to him.
