WWE NXT Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Tournament Update

It all begins next week on NXT.

WWE/Twitter This week on NXT, they officially announced the NXT Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Tournament that will begin next week, according to GM William Regal. The tournament was officially announced at first during Saturday's NXT Takeover Brooklyn event. The finals of the tournament will take place live on the NXT October 7 Takeover event from the Full Sail University in Orlando. The first match in the tournament is Rhyno and Baron Corbin taking on The Ascension, who are returning to NXT with WWE billing them as the most dominant tag team in NXT history. Rhyno feuded with Corbin previously, but now that they are both heels they have teamed up. Another match that was taped took place prior to this week's Smackdown taping. It was Samoa Joe teaming with NXT Champion Finn Balor against the Lucha Dragons. If you have to guess who won that, you're probably not paying attention enough. There will also be tag team partners for wrestlers like Neville (who is back working some NXT tapings) and Tyler Breeze. The idea is that even singles wrestlers will want to team up to win the first ever tournament in honor of Dusty. It's not known what the winners of the tournament get, but there's probably some kind of trophy and perhaps a future Tag Team Title shot at the NXT tag champs The Vaudevillains.
