WWE Owner Vince McMahon Celebrates His 69th Birthday

The Chairman and CEO turned 69 on Sunday.

It€™s been some time since WWE€™s CEO and Chairman of the Board was last seen on television. While the day-to-day operations of the company and its television programming have supposedly been overtaken by Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, Vince undoubtedly still has the final say over everything. Vincent Kennedy McMahon celebrated a birthday on Sunday, August 24th. Just one week after SummerSlam€™s twenty-seventh edition, Mr. McMahon turned 69 years old. The nearly 70 year old McMahon still looks to be in good shape and health, as it€™s commonly known Vince has been an avid bodybuilder for decades -- the so-called Genetic Jackhammer even graced the cover of Muscle & Fitness magazine in April of 2006. Surely, the aging yet able Vince is enjoying the fact that he can loosen his tight grip on the reins of his company. While the Chairman is probably nowhere close to stepping away yet, it seems he has become more comfortable with letting his daughter and son-in-law handle things in recent years. Quite frankly, his willingness to step aside from time to time is somewhat shocking. McMahon and his company Titan Sports Inc. purchased the WWE from his father, Vincent James McMahon, in 1982. After withdrawing from the National Wrestling Alliance in €˜83, Vince Jr. set out to transform his father€™s World Wide Wrestling Federation into the global conglomerate we know it as today. In just a few short years, the younger McMahon took the WWF from a regional north-eastern territory to the nationally recognized symbol of excellence in professional wrestling. Vince McMahon later became an on-screen character during the WWF€™s Attitude Era. He even racked up a handful of accomplishments as a competitor -- winning the 1999 Royal Rumble by last eliminating €œStone Cold€ Steve Austin and later becoming WWF Champion after defeating Triple H toward the end of that year. However, Vince rarely appears on WWE TV these days -- his last appearance was on the April 14, 2014 edition of Raw to pay respect to the Ultimate Warrior following the Hall of Fame inductee€™s passing. As time continues on and Vince McMahon continues to add miles to his odometer, fans are likely to see less and less of the Chairman. Frankly, however, it€™s hard to imagine the WWE without Vince playing a constant part in its television product. Furthermore, it seems that Mr. McMahon is content to allow his son-in-law and daughter to slowly take over the company and execute its future. While Vince will undoubtedly continue to play a role in the world of WWE -- whether behind-the-scenes or in front of the camera -- it seems that the once relentless, hardworking, and indefatigable boss has begun to enjoy some time away from the world of sports entertainment.
