News has dropped that WWE discreetly filed for eight new trademarks with the USPTO (United States Patent & Trademark Office) on Thursday, 9 January. That batch followed up on one they'd already filed for two days earlier.
The promotion wish to trademark names for Brock Lesnar, Paul Heyman, Kane, The Usos, Kayden Carter, Lio Rush, AOP, Mojo Rawley and Bobby Lashley.
Everything WWE filed for in relation to each name is detailed below:
"Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances
by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through
broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or
commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a
global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports
and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in
the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services,
namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for
wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for
entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online
newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals,
namely, blogs, in the field of sports entertainment".
It's worth noting that WWE previously tried trademarking Brock Lesnar's name in 2003, but cancelled the claim in 2010 before trying again in 2016. They also tried trademarking Paul Heyman in 2013 without success.
