If Reigns is no longer the top dog, who'll be taking his place?

A few months back on Monday Night Raw, Shane and Stephanie McMahon celebrated the beginning of what they described as a "new era" in WWE. Then just last week we saw the dawning of another new era in the return of the WWE Draft. And this week on Raw, guess what - another commencement of a new era.

Seriously, though, for real this time.

Joking aside, this week’s episode of Monday Night raw was indeed the first episode since the official splitting of the brands and, for once, all that “new era” spiel was more than just a marketing buzz phrase.

The show saw plenty of changes made, in terms of both its booking, its production, and its overall presentation, while we were also given a number of indications as to what may be in store in the not-too-distant future.

And, most importantly, it genuinely did feel like an actual fresh start.

So let’s take a closer look at some of the things we learned about this latest new era on Monday Night Raw this week.

10. A New Sound

Chances are, the very first thing you noticed this week was that Raw has got itself a new theme song.

The new tune is “Enemies” by Shinedown, who have a fairly storied history with the WWE. They provided us with the theme song for Night of Champions 2008, while their track “I Dare You” was used in that awesome promo package for the World Heavyweight Championship Triple Threat match at WrestleMania 22.

And as for this latest contribution, while it’s no “Thorn in the Eye” or “Across the Nation,” it’s certainly better than its predecessor. I for one won’t miss hearing lines like “count down from 3, go, press X to reload” at the top of each week’s show.

However you feel about the song itself, though, the fact that they’ve even bothered to make a change in the first place is surely an encouraging sign. With “The Night” having been a staple of Raw since 2012, we were certainly due a change, and this was the perfect situation in which to make such a switch.
