WWE Raw: 10 Things You Might Have Missed (May 2)

Getting payback for Payback...

Twenty-four hours after Payback, Raw kicked off another new era - the era of Stephanie and Shane McMahon. As per Vince McMahon's edict, both of his children are now in charge of Raw and must work together in order to create the best product possible.

There were also many unanswered questions from the Pay-Per-View that needed a follow-up on Raw. Who would be declared the number one contenders to the WWE Tag Team Championship after Enzo Amore's injury stopped the final match in the tournament? How would Cesaro get revenge for Miz's cheap victory in the Intercontinental Championship match? What would happen between AJ Styles and Roman Reigns given that a rematch between the two men has already been announced?

WWE addressed these questions and several others on the first of only three Raws between Payback and Extreme Rules. With a shorter-than-usual amount of time to build to the next Pay-Per-View event, the company had to be very aggressive when it came to booking matches for Extreme Rules, and they were - but how is this card looking to stack up against Payback?

WWE tipped their hat to that question while giving several more clues as to where things are headed. Here are ten things you may have missed on May 2's Raw.

10. Stephanie McMahon Is One Of WWE's Best Performers

Over the past few months - even during the tedious buildup to WrestleMania - there was a single top-level heel who emerged as one of WWE's MVPs. Believe it or not (and I wouldn't have if I hadn't seen it happen), that heel was Stephanie McMahon. While her father, brother, and husband trotted out the same tired promos and nonsense every week, Stephanie was brilliantly innovative and wholly believable.

Now that Stephanie is back, she's sharing more of that greatness. Her promo at Payback was amazing, and her interaction with Shane and Kevin Owens in Raw's opening segment felt so effortless and natural.

It's a shame WWE didn't have the guts to turn Roman Reigns heel at 'Mania. If they did, the company could have done a double turn - Stephanie could have turned on HHH and helped Roman pick up the win to crown a new top heel in WWE. They wouldn't have had to get into anything as unbelievable as pretending there was a romantic relationship between the pair, Stephanie could just say that she knows talent, and Roman as champ is best for business.

It wasn't to be, but at least Stephanie is on TV. Hopefully the rest of family takes notes.
