WWE Raw: Big Show, Sheamus, Christian & More Names Announced For WrestleMania Battle Royal

This week on Raw, WWE announced more names as participants for the WrestleMania 30 match that is honoring WWE Hall of Famer Andre the Giant with a battle royal. The Big Show announced prior to his match on Raw that he was going to take place in the battle royal. He mentioned that throughout his career his name has been mentioned with Andre as a true giant. When he was in WCW, he was originally billed as "the son of Andre" when he used the name of The Giant until WCW thought better of it and stopped doing that. Based on his size and experience as a main event player for much of his 15 year career, Big Show has to be considered a favorite to win. Following his win on Raw over Titus O'Neil, Sheamus announced his participation in the WrestleMania battle royal. Sheamus has been rumored to be involved in different matches for WrestleMania. Months ago he was supposed to turn heel to become Daniel Bryan's opponent. That changed after CM Punk left and WWE realized the crowd really loves Bryan. Then Sheamus looked like he would face off with new heel Christian, but they have settled that with some matches in the last month, which have mostly been wins for Sheamus. As a main event level player, he's on the short list of possibilities to win the match. In addition to Big Show and Sheamus, here's a listing of the other participants that have been officially announced for the match after Raw: Ryback, Curtis Axel, Fandango, Big E, Dolph Ziggler, Alberto Del Rio, Damien Sandow, Titus O'Neil, Christian and Mark Henry. That's a total of 12 names. It's expected that nearly all of the names will be announced prior to WrestleMania although much like a Royal Rumble match there will be some surprises too. That's just how WWE likes to do these things, which is for the best because it's important to keep some mystery alive. There have been rumors that the battle royal might only be on the pre-show, but with all the hype it has received it deserves a spot. It's a four long event. Surely they can find 10-15 minutes to have a match that pays tribute to one of the biggest names in WWE history.
