Last night’s WWE Raw results from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
Michael Cole and Jerry “The King” Lawler are on commentary…
1) WWE Champion CM Punk defeated Big Show by DQ in a non-title match when Daniel Bryan interferes and attacks Punk.
Post-match, Bryan applied the “No Lock” on Punk and wouldn’t let go. Show takes advantage and drops an elbow on Punk while he is down. John Cena runs in and clotheslines the Big Show out of the ring. Bryan attacks Cena but Cena fights back and dumps him to the floor and cleans house as Punk looks on.
General Manager AJ Lee skips out to the ring and says Bryan is still dealing with anger management issues and he will make it up to everyone for ruining the contest. It will be Bryan & Show vs Punk & Cena for later tonight. AJ skips away as Cena and Punk argue in the ring.
JTG is backstage with Kaitlyn complaining about not being able to get a match on a three-hour show. AJ walks by and wonders if he’s trying to say he is not doing her job properly. JTG gets quiet now but AJ questions him. AJ tells JTG to get to the ring now and she will find him an opponent. He walks off and she is left with Kaitlyn. She asks Kaitlyn if she thinks she is unstable to which she replies that she can think of many words to describe AJ but unstable is not one of them.
I think we can all understand exactly what JTG segment is alluding too. I fear for him…
2) Ryback defeated JTG with the Shellshocked for the quick win. Crowd were chanting Feed Me More and Ryback might be starting to get over.
Cole announces that WWE Hall of Famer Rowdy Roddy Piper is here tonight and the fans will be able to vote on Twitter for their choice for his Piper’s Pit guest tonight. #Y2JPit is for Chris Jericho, #MizPit is for The Miz and #DolphPit is for Dolph Ziggler as they head off to a commercial.
It is announced that Santino Marella will defend his United States Title against Antonio Cesaro at the SummerSlam YouTube pre-match. I have a feeling a title change could be on the cards.
Piper is backstage rambling when the camera pans and it shows Shawn Michaels there with him. They talk for a bit then HBK takes a phone call and it sounds like he is talking to Triple H who is stuck in a flight. Shawn says he needs to be here tonight because this is not his fight, it’s Hunter’s. He hangs up looking worried.
3) WWE Tag Team Champion R-Truth defeated Heath Slater with a clothesline and a face plant for a quick victory.
After the match, the music hits and it’s the Prime Time Players coming to the ring, obviously minus AW. Truth fights them off but the numbers game catches up to them as he gets doubled teamed by the #1 contenders who will get their tag title shot at SummerSlam. It was mentioned earlier in the night that Kofi Kingston was overseas touring, which is why he didn’t make the save.
4) Sin Cara defeated Tensai with a pinfall out of nowhere when Sakamoto’s interference backfired. Tensai = worthless at this point.
After the match, Tensai grabs Sakamoto and brings him into the ring and slaps him into the mat and then gives him a backsplash as Sakamoto screams.
HBK is backstage asking crew members if they have seen someone. He wants to be notified when that person arrives.
Jerry Lawler introduces Roddy Piper to the ring for Piper’s Pit. Lawler reveals, to the surprise of no-one, that Chris Jericho won the vote with 55% of the audience and his music hits.
Piper says the last time he saw Y2J it was when Mickey Rourke knocked him out at WrestleMania a few years ago. Y2J talks about how he beat the Legends that year and is excited to be on Piper’s Pit for the first time ever and thanks the fans for that. Piper says Dolph Ziggler can’t win the big one anymore. Piper says he knew Jericho’s father and he won the big one. Vickie Guerrero comes out and screams “EXCUSE ME” a million times with Dolph Ziggler.
Ziggler asks how many years Piper has been doing the same tired old segment. He calls Piper sad but the WWE Hall of Famer retorts mocking Ziggler for wearing pink. Ziggler asks Jericho how many failed comebacks he needs before he realises he can’t do it anymore. Ziggler says Y2J will be finished after their match on Sunday. Jericho comes back but Vickie chimes and Y2J tells her to SHUT THE HELL UP. Jericho says he will prove Ziggler wrong on Sunday and he guarantees a victory. A Y2J chant starts and out comes WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz.
He says “Really”. He says Dolph and he have something in common – they can still win the big one. Miz talks about his accomplishments and says he is taking matters into his own hands tonight. He says Dolph can be his guest but Piper and Jericho need to get the hell out of his ring. Piper yells now and Jericho lays out Miz with a right hand. Jericho then attacks Dolph and throws Miz out of the ring. Ziggler grabs his briefcase but Jericho counters and knocks him out of the ring. He poses with Piper as he music plays.
Punk is warming up backstage when Eve Torres appears and congratulates him on his change of heart in recent weeks. He says there is no new CM Punk, just the same guy he has always been. He says all he has ever done is fight for respect because he deserves it. Eve says nobody is buying that, especially John Cena. Punk says he will tell Cena that himself and walks off.
Shawn Michaels is backstage and Cole mentions HHH isn’t here yet. Cena walks up on HBK and he’s a bit jumpy. He walks off and CM Punk walks up and says he won’t stab anyone in the back tonight but he will make sure Cena and Show don’t walk out of WWE SummerSlam with his title.
Wade Barrett promo airs.
5) WWE Divas Champion Layla & Kaitlyn defeated Beth Phoenix & Eve Torres when Kaitlyn pushed Beth into Eve and rolled Beth up for the victory.
6) WWE Champion CM Punk & John Cena defeated Big Show & Daniel Bryan when Cena hit the Attitude Adjustment on Bryan for the win.
After the match, Cena begins to celebrate but in comes Show. Punk makes the save and knocks the big man down with his WWE Title belt. Cena and Punk stare down each other as Punk extends his hand but Cena won’t accept. Punk gets pissed and leaves the ring with the WWE Title as Cena’s music plays.
Josh Matthews is backstage and catches Punk and asks him what just happened. The WWE Champion says Cena just went into business for himself and only cares for himself. Punk says Cena disrespected him by not shaking his hand and he will teach him a lesson about respect on Sunday.
We see Paul Heyman talking to Brock Lesnar backstage.
7) Damien Sandow defeated Christian when he hit his finisher for a surprising, relatively clean win. Brodus Clay’s music had hit during the match to watch but it only really distracted Sandow who nearly lost the match with a 2 count. Sandow then applied his finisher to defeat Christian.
Shawn Michaels is walking around backstage paranoid. He runs into Lesnar. Lesnar just stares him down as HBK goes the other way. The contract signing for Sunday’s match is up next but HHH still isn’t here.
Brock Lesnar comes out with Paul Heyman. The ring is setup for a typical contract signing with table and chairs. Heyman introduces himself as the advocate for Lesnar. Heyman brings up Triple H’s flight delays and says he doesn’t believe it because nobody wants this SummerSlam match more than Hunter. Heyman says Triple H needs it but says Heyman won’t be allowed to be held legally responsible for what happens to Triple H on Sunday. He says the match will be brutal.
Heyman brings up HBK and how he is cowering in the building. He invites Shawn to come out and tell Lesnar to his face that he belies his friend can win on Sunday. Heyman says HBK is not coming out and really, he can’t blame him. Heyman carries on but Shawn’s music does hit and out he comes.
HBK grabs the mic and stares down with Lesnar as the crowd chants. Triple H’s music hits and out he comes wearing a suit. He locks eyes with Lesnar and enters the ring. They meet at the table and stare each other down. The crowd is chanting mostly for Triple H as he signs the contract but keeps his eyes firmly on Lesnar. Lesnar signs next and tosses the clipboard at Hunter. Lesnar and Heyman go to the floor as Lesnar smiles at Triple H as he walks around the ramp. The crowd chants “you suck” at Lesnar and Heyman.
After a commercial break, HBK is shown backstage with Triple H. He says Brock is on a whole different level and he will be there in HHH’s corner come Sunday but Triple H must beat Lesnar alone.
Matt Striker is interviewing Big Show backstage when we hear a car accident. Shawn Michaels has ran into Paul Heyman’s car. Heyman is apologising but Lesnar runs over and pulls HBK out of his car. The camera goes out and we only have sound as Lesnar is saying he has a message for Triple H as he beats up Shawn Michaels.
After another commercial break, we get to see what happened again and we cut to the parking lot where Shawn’s car is but nobody knows where they have gone. WWE talent are looking for them when Triple H walks up and AJ Lee tells them they are gone. Lesnar comes walking to the ring with HBK on his shoulder. He puts Shawn in the ring as Heyman enters.
Shawn stands up but Lesnar gives him an F-5. Shawn rolls around the ring in pain and tries to crawl up to Lesnar but he applies the Kimura Lock and out comes Triple H finally. Heyman tells Triple H to stop right there or Lesnar will break HBK’s arm. Triple H hesitates and Heyman keeps threatening him. Lesnar snaps HBK’s arm back anyway and Triple H hits the ring as Lesnar flees but HHH gives up the chase to check on his friend. Lesnar and Heyman are laughing at the top of the ramp as trainers and Triple H check on Shawn who is selling the injury. Triple H apologies and HBK tells him to get away from him. Raw goes off the air with Lesnar smiling.
