WWE RAW Review 5/6/2013: 5 Things We Learned

3. Jack Swagger: A Character Breakthrough?

jack swagger Last night on RAW, Jack Swagger was in beast mode, and this time it finally paid off. This is the type of Swagger we should have been seeing since his return, with his manager Zeb Colter playing the Paul Heyman to Swagger's Brock Lesnar all these months much like they did last night. Swagger's "We The People" arch has not gotten any real traction, and he is much better served playing the demolishing heel role than he is the sympathetic, "here's my bad idea cause, so hate me role." Whatever adjustments WWE Creative is making to his character behind the scenes are finally starting to pay off, and this Jack Swagger character is finally starting to show signs of life. Now just move him out of the Alberto del Rio black hole feud so he can shine on his own.

2. The Game and Brock Lesnar Ramble On

Triple H Again this week, we had a bit more of the same from the Lesnar / Triple H program as we head towards Extreme Rules. However, it was a nice change to see Lesnar is his own beast mode, destroying Hunter's office inside the WWE Corporate HQ. WWE used this segment not only to build the RAW pre-show hype for the incident on social media prior to RAW airing (smart move!), but also to keep the two men separated from TV for another week as they head towards their clash at Extreme Rules inside the steel cage. All in all, their program is coming together as expected and the addition of the steel cage stipulation had better pay off in the end, or it's just another match between the two heavyweights without much payoff.
