WWE Raw Review: 9 Big Talking Points (Jan 11)

9. Opening Segment - Vince And Stephanie McMahon Promo

The whole roster is out to celebrate the 23rd anniversary of Raw and New Day helpfully dances along to Vince's music as he makes his entrance. The McMahons helpfully recap the rules of the Royal Rumble for all the stupid people in the audience and call out a few members of the roster until the Wyatt Family makes their presence known. Naturally, Roman Reigns interrupts and the announcers talk about how the odds are far, far too great for Reigns to ever win. No way. Couldn't possibly happen. No chance in hell. Roman actually has a good question: What happens if he wins the Rumble? Instead of giving an answer, Vince books Roman in a One vs. All Match (whatever that is). He also puts Dean Ambrose against Sheamus because, hey, why not? Well, that wasn't very eventful. I guess they want anticipation to build as to what would happen if Roman wins the Rumble but the segment felt a bit flat. I know Vince has really reinvigorated the Reigns push because he's still one of their biggest heels but WWE really needs to figure out what they are going to do once Vince disappears from television. Plus, it's not like Vince is going to be working a match against Roman so they need a way to transfer the heat off of the McMahons and onto an actual heel, something they haven't been able to do in a long time. I realize that Reigns vs. Triple H is the future plan but what happens after that? You can't keep putting Reigns against Attitude Era guys and hoping he gets over with fans.
