WWE Raw Viewership Disappointingly Drops After SummerSlam

Coming off an eventful weekend, WWE must be frustrated with Raw numbers.

WWE Raw did 3.72 million viewers the night after SummerSlam, down from last week's 3.78 million viewers. The week before that, viewership had been 3.84 million viewers. WWE will be mightily disappointed with the decline. It is only a slight drop off, but the expectation had been for a huge rise in viewers after the shock ending of the SummerSlam special on Sunday. The lure of getting answers from Undertaker and Brock Lesnar ended up doing nothing for the numbers. The show was only just above the summer average. The three hours were: - 8 p.m. 3.61 million viewers - 9 p.m. 3.79 million viewers - 10 p.m. 3.76 million viewers Unadvertised returns of Sting, Ric Flair, and The Dudley Boyz made no difference. The question WWE have to ask themselves, is why didn't the numbers improve? It must be frustrating, because playing the Lesnar Undertaker angle they must have thought that it was a bankable ratings lure. On paper, those two wrestlers and the context of their SummerSlam finish should have resulted in bigger Raw viewership. What could be the case is that fans either didn't care, or were just too burned out from so much wrestling over the weekend. The NXT special followed by the four hour SummerSlam was enough WWE for some people.
