WWE Releases Mason Ryan (And Other NXT Performers)

PWInsider reports that Mason Ryan has been released. The 32 year old Welshman had been part of the WWE system since 2009, but he was never able to make his mark on the main roster. The closest he came was when he was a member of the New Nexus group led by CM Punk in early 2011. He debuted by attacking John Cena and drew a lot of attention at first because as a 6'5" 290 pounder he was one of the biggest guys on the roster and basically looked like a younger version of Batista. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_Db5SYC7Vc Due to injuries and perhaps a lack of talent (particularly in terms of promos), he never made his mark on the main roster. WWE likely feels that somebody his age should have been able to grasp things better, so they have decided to release him.. Ryan likely could have been a success if he was a part of a tag team or perhaps if he had a manager. It's rare for WWE to give up on somebody his size, but the roster is loaded with talent right now too. It's understandable why they came to this decision.
NXT performers Shaul Guerrero (the daughter of Vickie and Eddie Guerrero), Oliver Grey and Danny Burch have also departed the company as of this week. Shaul Guerrero is the daughter of Eddie & Vickie Guerrero, so the wrestling business is in her blood. She had a previous run in WWE, then she focused on school and came back, but she's been released. She was using the name Raquel Diaz as a manager. Most divas in WWE are wrestlers too, so perhaps that's a reason why she was released. Not everybody is cut out to be a wrestler. Oliver Grey is a British wrestler that made his mark on NXT as the tag team partner of Adrian Nevile. Grey suffered a torn ACL and missed nine months of action. During his time off, Neville shined as a singles star and became the NXT Champion. It's a shame that Grey was released because his chemistry with Neville was great. Perhaps he'll be brought back into the fold in the future. Danny Burch is another British wrestler that had some brief appearances on NXT in 2013 although he was never able to find a regular role on the television show. If there are other WWE releases in the coming days and weeks we will update you as always.
