WWE Releases Original Sin Cara

It's been rumored for months now and today it became official. World Wrestling Entertainment has released the original Sin Cara. Here's the statement from WWE.com: "WWE has come to terms on the release of Luis Ignacio Urive Alvirde effective on March 26, 2014. We wish Luis the best of luck in his future endeavors. " As most WWE fans know, Sin Cara came into the company with a lot of hype because when he was known as Mistico in Mexico, where he was a top guy. He main evented major shows that did huge business and put on some incredible matches but to most American fans when he was introduced he was little more than a name they may have vaguely heard of. When WWE signed him in 2011 and created the Sin Cara character, he was a 28 year old that was supposed to be the next Rey Mysterio. As a PG company, it made sense that they would want to have another talented masked wrestler. Kids could really get into a guy like that. They built him up with video packages and hyped his debut as a big deal. For a number of reasons, it didn't work out. His style just didn't mesh with other WWE Superstars. He earned a rep as somebody that made mistakes a lot. People online made fun of his botches all the time. He also suffered a major knee injury that put him on the sidelines for a significant amount of time. Now in his early 30s, he'll likely continue to wrestle in Mexico where he was once a huge star while the WWE Universe will toss him into that big trash bin filled with other gimmicks that failed miserably. The t-shirt that looked like it had a penis on it didn't really help his career much either. 03 Sin Cara The Sin Cara character continues in WWE with Hunico in the role although as we reported months ago it's possible that they may just end the character now that the Scooby Doo movie is out.
