WWE: Ric Flair Wants To Manage Dolph Ziggler; Plans To Wrestle In Japan

Flair Ziggler There were reports recently that Ric Flair may be brought back into WWE on a more regular basis most likely as a manager. Some of the rumored names for him to manage included The Miz and also Dolph Ziggler. In an in-depth article on Flair by Mike Mooneyham of the Post and Courier, Flair spoke about what he thinks Ziggler needs to get to that next level. "I think he's awesome. He'd be a great guy to manage. He looks like a million bucks. He just can't find his gimmick. He needs to work on his entrance. I could help him with that." It's merely a rumor at this point. There's no indication that it's going to happen although since Ziggler isn't being used that much in WWE and Flair is coming back to the company, it's certainly a possibility. For it to happen, Ziggler probably needs to go heel although Flair may not get booed that much as a legend. It's just that babyfaces typically don't have managers, so it may be difficult for it to really work. The article also notes that Flair is heading to Japan in September where he is set to wrestle. He's not going to wrestle for WWE, but he still does independent wrestling dates and has committed to wrestling in Japan. Flair said he had no problem taking bumps these days: "Heck yeah! I'm excited. I've got so much energy, it's ridiculous." Flair is 65 years old and probably shouldn't be wrestling due to his age, but he noted he's in great shape at 228 pounds, which is around what he was at in TNA two years earlier. Hopefully he doesn't take too many bookings for matches because as we saw with Jerry Lawler when you reach a certain age you shouldn't be bumping anymore. Being in good shape is one thing, but when you're older there's a lot more risk.
The last noteworthy quote was this one about his daughter WWE diva Charlotte (real name Ashley), who is the new NXT Women's Champion: "She will be the greatest Flair of all time. Her credentials speak for themselves. I'd put her resume up against anybody. She's Rey Mysterio but bigger. She is going to be the greatest female wrestler and the most famous diva in the history of the WWE." It's high praise to say she'll be the greatest Flair of all time, but there's nothing wrong with showing love to a loved one. His Mysterio comment is likely a reference to her athleticism because as a former volleyball player and successful athlete, she does have the credentials to be one of the best. She showed in her awesome match against Natalya that she has what it takes to be something special in WWE. Flair returning to WWE as a regular is a great thing. We will keep you updated on when he might show up, what he might doing and what other outrageous things he might be saying too!
