Even though most of the pro wrestling world knew it was almost a guarantee to happen, people still reacted like crazy when Triple H emerged as #30 in the annual Royal Rumble match. To his credit, Roman Reigns exhibited the perfect facial expression, telling of his dismay that such a huge name and bitter on-screen enemy had entered so late. It was a flawless tale by WWE, one designed to rally support behind the sometimes unlikeable Reigns and make him the top babyface in the company. Kofi Kingston had his yearly elimination escape, but eventually tasted the mats as he left the bout, and Chris Jericho had a fine showing the 30-man affair.
