WWE Royal Rumble 2013: 5 Awesome Moments And 5 That Sucked

The dust is beginning to settle now that the Royal Rumble has concluded, and the fallout is beginning to make itself known. Though not among the best Rumble pay-per-views of all time, it was a sure improvement over last year's, and was on the whole relatively solid. Like any WWE PPV, however, it had its share of ups and downs; for every awesome moment, there was just one that flat-out sucked, and as all long-time WWE fans know, these events are largely an exercise in tempering your expectations. Here are 5 awesome moments and 5 that sucked from this year's Royal Rumble event...

5 Awesome Moments...

5. Rhodes Family Feud

Goldust wasn't lying on Twitter when he mentioned that it was the loudest pop that he had ever received. The crowd was hot and into the sibling rivalry that never culminated in anything last year. Having Cody Rhodes pay homage to big brother by throwing that Goldust punch was even better. They showed that a potential feud between them, and a possible Mania match, would be worth watching. Then again, this was the Royal Rumble. And not to rain on the Goldust parade, but people tend to cheer a lot for nostalgia at the Royal Rumble. Take Kevin Nash for example; when he returned at the 2011 Royal Rumble, people popped big. When he decided to stick around further down the road and start a feud with CM Punk, people didn't pop so much. It was a case of "a little goes along way", especially considering Nash's limited ability inside the ring. Then again, you can't really compare Goldust's work-rate with Big Daddy Cool's. It just wouldn't be fair to Kevin Nash. And even though it probably won't happen (again) considering Goldust wasn't on tonight's Raw, for those few minutes in the Royal Rumble match, a Goldust and Cody feud looked like one worth exploring by WWE creative.
