One of the most exciting events of the year is the Royal Rumble, specifically the Royal Rumble match itself. The Rumble is like nothing else in professional wrestling and is oftentimes the kick start for many of the biggest storylines heading into WrestleMania season.

However, something as if not more buzz worthy than the outcome of the match is the surprise of a returning or debuting superstar in the 30 man field. In 2008, Some fans (this writer included) burst into tears when John Cena shocked us all as the 30th entrant and won the whole thing. Before that, watching Jimmy Snuka and Roddy Piper renew their historic rivalry was something that nobody saw coming.

Flash forward to last year and the world was shocked to see AJ Styles come out at number three as the man few thought would ever step foot in a WWE ring finally made his epic debut.

Each year, there is no shortage of rumors regarding who fans think will be appearing in the Royal Rumble. Here are 10 many are hoping to see when the countdown hits zero and the buzzer sounds in Alamdome on 29 January.

10. Daniel Bryan (Probability: 0/10)

Let’s get this out of the way early: Daniel Bryan will not be returning at the Alamo Dome. Nothing would excite fans more than hearing Flight of the Valkyries and seeing everyone’s favorite goat faced wrestler step in the ring as a competitor again.

Having Bryan enter solely to fight and eliminate The Miz is a moment that fans have been dreaming of since that infamous ‘Talking Smack’ promo Miz delivered over the summer. Fans have been wondering where the climax of this program will be, but it will not happen this way.

Given the health situation that Daniel Bryan has been dealing with and with his first born child coming, that is not something he or the WWE are willing to jeopardize. And that's perfectly fine with us.
