WWE Royal Rumble 2020: 9 Last-Minute Rumours You Need To Know

Maybe they do give a damn about their bad reputation...

As sure as night follows day, nothing quite whips the internet into such a frenzy of speculation like WWE's annual Big Bad Banter Bash, the Royal Rumble. Since the match was first conceived, WWE have stuffed it with shocks, surprises, stuns and special guests, to not only pad out the match to the required 30 entrants, but also keep the audience guessing throughout its duration.

Where its Big 4 PPV brothers and sisters often underdeliver on the WOW moments, the Rumble is normally, for better or worse, choc-full of them. Mercifully, for those of us who make our living off the Content, this year has been no exception. There's potentially a lot they can do at this year's event, even if the winner of the men's Rumble (usually the biggest talking point going in) is the one thing that looks like being a done deal.

Now, a sad indictment of WWE's last 12 months is that the above two paragraphs are copied and pasted from my Royal Rumble Last Minute Rumours 2019 article. Despite the move to SmackDown and the emergence of AEW, not a whole really really seems to have changed with how they build towards WrestleMania season.

However, unlike last year's article, 2020 has the potential to radically alter the very top of the 'Mania card. If even one of the rumored big-name returns comes to fruition, the entire game is going to change.

He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
