WWE Running Huge NXT Show The Night Before SummerSlam

The biggest event in NXT history.

WWE will present an NXT show at Brooklyn's Barclays Center the night before SummerSlam. Triple H broke the news on Twitter, declaring "The #FutureIsNow...@WWENXT takes over the @barclayscenter on Aug. 22nd. Tickets available Sat. July 18th at 12pm." The image he tweeted had it branded as a Takeover event, so presumably it will also be airing on WWE Network. The very next night, the same building will host SummerSlam. It means that WWE fans in the New York area will have the opportunity to enjoy a full on wrestling weekend. You'd expect a good portion of those attending SummerSlam will also buy tickets to the saturday NXT show, although it will be a big test of NXT's popularity. The Barclays Center is significantly bigger than the usual five hundred to two thousand people who attend NXT shows. Ring Of Honor is also running in the same New York area on the saturday night, putting NXT into direct competition with the company who gave WWE the likes of Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. Tickets for the NXT show will be available from July 18th and it will be interesting to see how sales go. If this is a success, then NXT will be one step closer to becoming a full on touring brand.
