WWE: Could We See War Games Match At Battleground PPV?

When The Shield faced off with the Wyatt Family and now with Evolution, WWE fans got excited because those groups are all very good at what they do. All of them are booked strong on a consistent basis. Fans were chanting "this is awesome" as these teams were standing on the opposite sides of the ring. A lot of that excitement led to those same fans thinking that WWE might bring back an old NWA/WCW staple called War Games. It hasn't happened yet and there's still uncertainty about whether it will happen. A new report suggests that while there are no concrete plans for a War Games match right now, the Tampa Bay Times Forum in Tampa that is hosting WWE Battleground on July 20 is big enough for a War Games setup. A name like Battleground is certainly fitting for match like War Games isn't it? The War Games concept was something that Dusty Rhodes came up with back in 1987 when he was booking the NWA. It became a regular thing in NWA/WCW for the next ten years with the last War Games match taking place in 1997. The match took place inside two rings that were constructed side by side and the two cages had an enormous steel cage with a roof on it. It originated as a 5 on 5 match, but turned into 4 on 4 over the years. Most of the time somebody would bleed in a War Games and sometimes everybody in the match would. That wouldn't happen in today's WWE in the PG environment where blade jobs are banned. While we don't know if WWE will ever do a War Games match, it has been mentioned that Triple H has always been a huge fan of the idea. Since his power in the company is increasing, the possibility of it happening is more likely. WWE could have done the match ever since they bought WCW in 2001 and they owned the rights to it, but they have chosen not to. Instead, they created match concepts of their own like the Elimination Chamber in 2002 and Hell in a Cell in 1997 that have been very successful. If WWE were to do the match, they would have to make it more than a 3 on 3 contest, but that wouldn't be too difficult. They had a ready made War Games match at Extreme Rules with Evolution teaming up with Kane going up against The Shield with Daniel Bryan. That's obviously not going to take place now. They always say "anything can happen" in WWE and while that's true, War Games isn't a lock. It would be awesome if it did, but for now it's merely just a possibility. We will update you if there is any further news on the possibility of a War Games match in WWE. no arenas between now and SummerSlam would be able to accommodate a two-ring set up for the match Read more at http://www.lordsofpain.net/news/wwe/Update_on_the_Possibility_of_WWE_Doing_a_War_Games_Match_JR_Announces_New_Show_Jericho.html#2shH5sMcGq1q5UDV.99
