Squared Circle Sirens are reporting that WWE have signed 32-year old Candice LeRae to a developmental deal and she will start training at the promotion's Performance Center within the next few weeks.
LeRae was one of the 32 women who entered last year's Mae Young Classic tournament on the WWE Network. There, she was booked to defeat Renee Michelle and Nicole Savoy in early rounds before falling to Shayna Baszler at the quarter final stage, but gave a good account of herself overall.
Her performances were good enough for WWE to show further interest. The Mae Young Classic wasn't the last time LeRae worked on WWE television either. She also participated in a Battle Royal on the October 26, 2017 episode of NXT.
LeRae is married to NXT's Johnny Gargano and has teamed extensively with Joey Ryan on the independent circuit. To date, she is the only woman in history to hold the PWG Tag-Team Titles (with Ryan), and has also held various other singles belts in other indy companies.
Her latest WWE appearance was a dark match victory over Vanessa Borne at last week's NXT TV tapings in Atlanta, Georgia.
