Matt Riddle's WWE signing was confirmed last night, after he was pictured in the crowd at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4.

During the contest between EC3 and The Velveteen Dream, the camera drifted to the front row, where a laid-back Riddle looked like he was having the time of his life. The cut-away - now the traditional manner of introducing new stars to the so-called 'developmental brand' - drew a typically fervent reaction from the yellow-and-black followers.

Commentating, Mauro Ranallo, somewhat arrogantly, remarked on NXT's new signing that "the rich get richer!", noting Riddle was yet another "blue-chip signing" for the show. Super: maybe they'll put him in blue tassels and have him make a main roster debut at Survivor Series?

Riddle's MMA background was briefly touched upon, but his wrestling credentials were swiftly sidestepped. Earlier this month, the Bro' dropped the EVOLVE Championship to Shane Strickland, alerting the world of his probable move to Orlando.

Since moving from the Octagon to the squared-circle, Riddle's rapid progress has drawn immense praise. His series of matches with fellow supremo Will Ospreay have been amongst 2018's best - no mean feat - whilst his effortless charisma has drawn not-excessive comparisons to The Rock.

Will indie's Stoner King succeed in NXT? Weed say so - you'd be a dope not to.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
