WWE SmackDown Ratings Rise (Again!)

Could things be looking up for the blue brand?

After enjoying a steady ratings increase last week, this week's Friday Night SmackDown on FOX managed to improve on those numbers yet again - if the overnight readings are to be believed.

On average, this Friday's episode drew an average of 2.580 million viewers. A notable improvement on last week's 2.502 million average.

Yes, it still isn't close to the expected 3-4 million FOX expected when they purchased the blue show, but progress is progress. The first hour of SmackDown even managed to pull in 2.616 million viewers, before dropping off to 2.544 million in the second hour.

SmackDown also scored an improved 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic, up from 0.75 last week.

These are obviously just overnight numbers and the official ratings will be released on Monday.

Despite many feeling as though the current SmackDown product has become somewhat stale, these gradually increasing numbers suggest that people are enjoying what they're seeing. That or FOX are just really good at marketing their television.

Either way, with next week's SmackDown being the go-home show before the Royal Rumble, WWE will be hoping they can improve on these numbers yet again and start to accumulate as much momentum as possible going into this year's WrestleMania season.
