WWE SmackDown Spoilers 21/8/12 - Randy Orton Taps Out Clean To Alberto Del Rio!

Last night's WWE SmackDown tapings results from Bakersfield, California. The show will air Friday night on SyFy (US) and on Sky Sports (UK). Michael Cole and Teddy Long is on the commentary. Long replaces Josh Matthews who is out this week. It is indeed the state of the WWE commentary position that they didn't trust anyone else with the job. Randy Orton opens the show to talk about what happened on RAW. He says he wants a World Heavyweight Title shot and issues a challenge to anyone who has a problem with that. Sheamus comes out to a big pop and agrees with Orton. Then comes Alberto Del Rio, who also wants a title shot. General Manager of SmackDown Booker T then appears and orders Orton vs Del Rio for tonight with the winner facing Sheamus. 1) Ryback defeated Jinder Mahal. Ryback also cut a promo on Mahal before the match started. Is this the feud over? 2) WWE Divas Champion Layla defeated Alicia Fox in a non-title match which had Kaitlyn on commentary. Said to be a surprisingly good back and forth Divas contest. Kaitlyn and Layla then came face-to-face in the middle of the ring and shook hands. Eve Torres ran down and raised both hands. (?) Dolph Ziggler and Vickie Guerrero are backstage arguing with Sheamus, who dares Ziggler to cash in his briefcase tonight. They have a match next but it will be non-title and non-briefcase; 3) World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus defeated Dolph Ziggler via DQ when Ziggler hit the champ with his briefcase. Ziggler continued the attack and was going to cash in his briefcase before Sheamus stood up and Dolph fled. Santino Marella comes out and discusses his reign as WWE United States Champion. This brings out the new champ, Antonio Cesaro and his partner Aksana. Santino attacks Cesaro but Aksana distracts the Cobra once again and Cesaro ends it by laying Santino out. Alberto Del Rio is yelling at Ricardo in a backstage segment. 4) WWE Tag Team Champions Kofi Kingston & R-Truth defeated Primo & Epico. No word if this was a title match. Matt Striker is backstage with the tag champions. The Prime Time Players then show up, as do The Usos and Primo and Epico and a giant brawl ensues. Booker T and Teddy Long are backstage talking about the tag title scene when Eve Torres walks in. She says she has done some research on the next contenders and has everything organised. Booker looks impressed. Wade Barrett return promo airs. 5) Alberto Del Rio defeated Randy Orton to become the number 1 contender to Sheamus' World Heavyweight Title. Reports say Orton tapped out clean to Del Rio from the cross armbreaker. Sheamus was on commentary and there was a big brawl after the match, with Ziggler also joining in.
