It looks like the rumors are true, Daniel Bryan is set to be the next General Manager of SmackDown.

PWInsider has reported that Bryan is booked for both Raw tonight, and the SmackDown draft episode tomorrow.

As of now, we still don't know who Stephanie McMahon is going to pick as her General Manager. We will find out on Raw tonight if her choice is as good as her brother's.

This seems like a solid move by WWE. Both Raw and SmackDown have largely been dominated by heel authority figures over the years, and Bryan will provide a nice change of pace. He's still incredibly popular with the fanbase, and will surely be more interesting in the role than a returning Teddy Long or Vickie Guerrero would have been.

WWE actually spoiled the news themselves last week, as the WWE App briefly reported that Bryan was chosen as Shane's pick. It was quickly taken down, but not before a few fans saw it.

Even though the word is out, it will be nice to see Bryan again back on TV in a featured role. He's done a solid job on the Cruiserweight Classic series, and remains one of the most likable figures in the company.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW.
