WWE Still Believe Four Million WWE Network Subscribers Is Possible

Management living in a fantasy land?

WWE Chief Strategy & Financial Officer George Barrios has said he still believes the WWE Network will have three to four million subscribers down the line. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Barrios also sees the addition of WalMart WWE Network gift cards as a difference maker in the US market. The belief is that people will give subscriptions for Christmas, or be attracted to the cards because they don't involve signing up with a credit card. It is interesting to hear that Barrios is still so optimistic, when the Network is already active in the company's biggest markets and is stuck on around 1.3 million subscribers. The potential high point is thought to be two million, as that's around the number of unique subscribers there has been in the Network's lifetime. However, even if you take that two million, then add on new subscribers from any new markets that open up, WWE are still going to struggle to hit three million. As for the four million, that looks highly unlikely right now. That kind of number would have to be years away, yet it is still what investors believe is possible. Barrios is a smart guy and could even end up replacing Vince McMahon one day, but his judgement on the Network could be way off.
